linear dimension - any direction

I am unable to get "any direction" to show up in the tool bar when using the dimension tool. how do i get it to work?

Make sure you have the correct dimension geometry selected.

Thanks Barry.
The problem is that the triangular icon for any "direction" is not there to select and nothing happens when I click on the icon with the grid and arrows. how do i get the triangular icon to come up?

In version 20 I notice you can't just click on the button to get the pop-out, you have to hold the mouse button for a fraction of a second.
Other pop-out buttons seem fine with a quick click.
Does that work for you?
