In AC 22 5009 version
when we are given Element ID to Element with B & b and in find & select with element ID 'B' but its highlighting both B & b also, may I Know this Find & select error with text ...

In AC 20 7005 version
when we are given Element ID to Element with B & b and in find & select with element ID B with highlighting only 'B'...

So in AC20, Find & Select is case-sensitive, but in AC22 it is case-insensitive.
In such cases, I like to have the ability to decide how it works, for example, to have a "case-sensitive" checkbox.
It is never fortunate when developers decide how uses will use or are supposed to use their software and do not give users the ability to decide.
I will bring this to the attention of the developers.

Hi,

Many have been complaining about that in most of their workflows they prefer to work with case insensitive searches, and based on our research, we also found that most users prefer it that way. On top of that, some criteria were case sensitive (like Element ID), but some were insensitive (like Object Name), and it also varied between dialogs (some things were different in Schedules and Find & Select).

Since in ARCHICAD 21 because of the new Graphic Override and Property functions we needed to reprogram some of these search functions, we decided that it was time to make them consistent, and since the popular demand was case insensitivity, that is what we went with (task #207612).

I see that in some cases you might still prefer case sensitivity, so I think the best solution would be to let you choose with a toggle for each criteria (although that will require serious developments once more). I added this to our list of things to improve (entry #266588), and I hope we can ship a solution to this in the near future.

Hi Daniel,

Actually, a flag for case sensitivity, while very helpful, is really a one-off, vs a full solution. What would be best (IMHO) is for ARCHICAD to allow what Microsoft calls "wildcards" in their search function in Microsoft Word (and which the software world knows as 'regular expressions').

If an every day word processing program like Word can have sophisticated searching... certainly ARCHICAD can as well? 🙂 This would be useful in all places of ARCHICAD that involve a find / pattern match operation.
