<T>How to you make a floor plan view of a steel beam that has an inclination of 5 degrees with the horizontal plane?
With sections you can align the section plane to be parallel with the inclination of a wall. The same is not possible with plan views, they are always parallel to the horizontal plane.
So how do you make a plan view with measurements of a steel beam with inclination?</T>

Would a 3D document with parallel projection work for you, Achille?

Adjusting the parallel projection settings can be tricky, an easier way to align the view for a 3D document is:

VIEW > 3D NAVIGATION EXTRAS > LOOK TO PERPENDICULAR OF CLICKED SURFACE

I use it quite a lot and is ideal for the problem in hand.

Dang! I knew there was a simpler method but, for the life of me, couldn't remember what. Shows how little I use this.

Thanks guys for your suggestions, they helped a lot.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to achieve what I want. It is not possible to obtain from 3d a usable view of a steel beam in order to produce shop drawings.

I attach 2 images to show what I mean. The first is the 3d view aligned correctly and set to wireframe. The second is the same image of a 3d Document of the same view, but there is no way to obtain the same representation. So it is impossible to use it.
Achille,

I use 3D documents regularly to produce all my fabrication drawings for beams & columns including end, base & finn plates, notched ends, shims, bolt centres etc...see attached...without too much trouble. In fact, I don't think there's anything, so far (touchwood!), that I haven't been able to do.

I couldn't quite work out from your images what you're trying to do. If it's anything like the drawing attached & you could give me a bit more detail, I'll do my best to help out...
