topic !Restored: Elevation symbol in Documentation

<R>I'm trying to get an interior elevation going and I thought there was a way to only have one elevation symbol show for the interior elevation (i.e.: one in the middle). Was I dreaming? Otherwise what is the reason for the options of Section and Elevation in the tool settings (I tried that switch but I'm still seeing two symbols at each end of the section/elevation line)?

Is this possible or do I have to put the section on a hidden layer and use an "after market" elevation symbol?

Thanks for your help.</R>

In AC8.1 the section tool has the option to display as elevation, i.e. single, centered marker rather than the standard section with markers at one or both ends. Check the Info Palette or Settings Dialog.

That's what I thought I did (see original message), unless I'm doing it in the wrong place (don't think so). I select the elevation version, and the only thing that changes is that the end tags drop the "wings", so they look more like an elevation tag, but there's still two of them.

Could it be that my version needs a reinstall? I've been having some PDF issues also. Maybe they're both related.... hmmm...

check your "options/Display options" - make sure that the section marker setting near the bottom of the list is set to "As in Settings". That way, the display option will check the setting you just made in the elevation marker object...

did that do it?
Oh wow, thanks. Yes, that did do it... though a bit after the fact, and after loosing some precious time trying to find a work-around. But thanks for the help - at least I'll have it for the future stuff.

Seems to me some of this stuff is defaulting to the wrong settings, and harder and harder to find where they've hidden the settings (if it's even available). Oh well, at least it works.

Thanks again.

I stumbled upon this today, it seems I had always had 'As In Settings' as a default and never cared about the other settings.

What's the point of 'Normal' vs 'As In Settings'. You would use it in a 'Drafting' model view to see how far say central-marker-only-elevations are stretching? The misplaced marker can actually hurt the process of placing annotations and dimensions.
