Just hide the layer the bubbles are on. If you don't have one, make a separate detailmarker layer for it.

You should setup layercombinations for your layout, yes.

I would assume there is a standard for layer names / numbers where you work. We have one for building elements (numbers + names), added to that we have layers for grid markers, sections, elevatations, worksheets, details, SEOs, annotation for different scales, 2D info for different scales, different type of zones, 2D and 3D visualisation additions and 1 layer for 'help' items you want hidden at all times.

As a guideline here is a list of (some of) the layercombinations we use in our template (which is largely based on the NL sub template):
All Layers
Fire safety plans
Gross Area plans
Structural
Details
Sections (1:20/1:50/1:100)
MEP
Foundations
Function Zoning
Elevations (Preliminary Design/Contract Documentation)
IFC exports (structural/architectural/etc etc)
Furniture / Fittings
Create Objects
Ceiling
Floorplan (1:20/1:50/1:100/1:200)
Stairs
Visualisation

If you look at the navigator the process is there from left to right.

Project map: the 'raw' model views, without any attached layer combos, pen sets etc
View map: the views you want to save with specific settings to be used in documentation
Layout book: hold your master layouts and project layout sheets where you should place the saved views from view maps (and other outside referenced linked info/files)
Publisher: where you setup automatic processes for getting your layouts out there (PDF/DWG/IFC/BIMX/Printing)... allthough you can also use it to create content like modules or PMK files for example.

Lilian,
If your detail bubbles are placed in your views then the layer combinations there can be used to show/hide them.
No need for layer combinations for layouts at all unless you are adding annotation there - which I would not do at all.
Everything should be done in your views.

I place all drawings in my layouts in the Archicad layer so they can never be hidden and the layer combination in the view settings controls what I do or don't see.

I fact you will find you can't use layer combinations in the layouts themselves.
Well you can but you can't save different combinations for different layout pages like you can with the views.
Change the layer combination in the layouts and it will change for all layout pages, not just the current one.

I think I resolve this...by creating another view map - Layout Floor Plan with layer combination that hide the detail marker....and still able to use the same drawing from view map without having to redraw or create 3D document of the specific area...

Llian wrote:
I am in my Layout and where can I select the layer combination?

Yes you are in the layout but you are showing the settings for the placed drawing.
This does not have any layer control (unless it is a PDF with layers but that is another matter).

This is a drawing of a view that you have placed on your layout.
The layers are controlled in the view settings.

As you have discovered you can save as many views of you plans, sections, elevations, etc., and each saved view can have different layer combinations as well a different scale, pen set, Model View Options, etc.

So essentially you set up the view that you want and simply place that on your layout.
All annotation (text, lines, detail bubbles, are place in the view in the layers you want so you can control their visibility by applying the correct layer combination.

Hi Barry,
I NEVER knew about creating view maps other than using the default in all those years that I have had used AC....since 1994. I was very much stuck in the surface and just didn't dive deep enough to explore and discover the beauty of the ocean floor. Well! it's never too late to discover the power of learning at this point of my career life when I've finally resigned from the corporate world to be on my own where I have the freedom to explore everything I want. Thanks Barry for your response..I am still celebrating this discovery because it is making it so much easier for me to prepare for the next high-rise project!

You might want to take some time out away from project and try the training series, it explains these processes rather well or if you are up for it, get some training from a good tutor.

I learned by 'doing' as well, but some of my co-workers I've had over the years took the course offered here by the reseller and they were so much more efficient after taking the one week out to attend the classes. I sometimes still learn 'basic' tricks during the yearly update course, while working at advanced level after using the software for 10 years.

The Graphisoft training series is available here: <LINK_TEXT text="https://www.youtube.com/user/Archicad/p ... dd&view=50">https://www.youtube.com/user/Archicad/playlists?shelf_id=1&sort=dd&view=50</LINK_TEXT> you can download the tutorial materials that go with it, by registering a myarchicad account.
