Can't change interior elevation Layer... Still!?! Fix this!

Seriously ArchiCad.... on the 19th Version of a $5,000 program and I still have to go googling around to try to figure out how to change the layer on an interior elevation marker that has it's layer permanently grayed out? Yes, I selected 'only the extent line'.... still grayed out.

I have work to do, I don't have all day to try to figure out weird archicad issues that shouldn't even exist. This should be an intuitive no-brainer. Changing the layer of something shouldn't require a secret code or special knowledge.

I am not sure exactly what is different with Interior Elevation Markers in 19 but it seems you must now select them at the ends of the extent lines and not the line itself to be able to move them or change the layer.

Things that cause grayed out phenomenon:
Locked Layer (use the quicklayers pallet all day every day)
If you are using teamwork and you have not reserved the interior elevations
I'm sure there are some other things that cause the "greyed out effect" I would love to learn more about this myself because I often can't get things out of their greyed out mode. For example my datum lines in section right now.

My elevation marker can't be changed. There is no nodes on the extension, or return lines. There is nothing I can select on the extension to make this marker longer.

You need to select it by the extent line.

Yes, I know. I have selected the extension line, but it won't let me change the length from it. I click at either end of the extension line, but nothing. There is only a node in the center.

I get the impression you are using the section or elevation tool to do your interior elevations.
Which is perfectly fine - I use the section tool all the time.
Although your image shows the interior elevation tool.

With those you just stretch the end of the main section line - not the extents.

The interior elevation tool works a little differently.

Is it Archicad 17 you are working with?

No, it's definately the internal elevation tool.

I'm using Archicad 18.

OK I see the problem.
Your interior elevation is set to have a limited horizontal range.
You can change it to unlimited and change it back afterwards.
Or use the TAB key on the limit line to toggle to the other line.
Or grab that centre node and move the limit line slightly then you should be able to select the room boundary line which is the one you want to adjust.
Then adjust the limit back.

I am not sure why the boundary line can not also be the limit line but I am sure there is a reason.
I'll just stick to the standard section lines.

I see, there are 3 lines to control! a limit line and an extent line, and you need various things turned on and off to have them show.
Very confusing, and not sure why you need the extent line..

Thanks Barry, this also solved an issue I was having of not being able to change "Show on Stories" of an Interior Elevation. When you click on the extent line, this option is no longer grayed out. Super weird. I would still consider this a glitch that needs to be fixed by Archicad, but thankful that there is a simple solution.

I am having the same issue as the original post in this thread, I cannot change the layer of an interior elevation marker, I'm working on this file Teamwork in v24 right now. The layer drop down is grayed out in my info box, and in the tool settings dialogue.

So, has this glitch not been fixed? Is there a work around?

So you are selecting the outer extent line and not the actual section marker or the line that passes through the section marker.

Also with teamwork, don't you have to reserve the marker so you can make changes, and have the correct user permissions to be able to do this (I don't use teamwork so am not 100% sure).
