DOHHhhh...geez, that's not good.
suppose you have 150 new-to-existing wall ends....and they get moved around or they get stretched or whatever....you'd have to keep track of of those darn 2d lines....no way.

see attached.
we need to indicate that "end" line condition to distinguish when "new" meets "existing".
I cannot change the justification of the wall planes either...they MUST have the same reference line (the framing skin).

The only way I know of is to place the walls in different layers that have different intersection priority numbers so they don't join with each other.

So duplicate your wall layer and make sure it has a different IP number to the original.
Make sure this new wall layer gets turned on in all the layer combinations that the original layer is turned on for.
if you miss ONE and only ONE layer combo, low and behold THAT will the be the layer combo the bossman says...."you messed up".
Geez....if there was only a way to just tell the ends of the new walls to distinquish themselves from the ends of the "existing" walls or vice versa.

But is that because you have the 'Clean wall & beam intersections' option turned off?
The reference lines and end lines will show as in your image when this option is turned off.

I have both wall ends on and I don't see them on joining walls in 19 either unless I turn that option off or use 2 layers with different intersection priority numbers.
yeah....see Lasz, that's not an option. Switching the reference line. Because, let's say you are continuing a hallway reference plane from "existing" to "new". You need to have that reference line be the same line (plane if you will) as the new and existing. You shouldn't need to swithc the ref line to make the ends have those lines in them because an "edge of construction" (ref line) will need to be established. What if the wall composite changes and you have to make certain wall types expand in or out a certain direction? Then if your ref line is not in the proper location, the wall will grow in the wrong direction so the "ref line flip" to the other side just doesn't cut it.
Has to be another "graphical" way to get that line in there besides have to 2D it.....................

yes....I can see this causing the effect I need but....if you are snapping (check marking) to an end point and you are methodical and maticulous about your drafting precision....you're hosed then. Cause if happend to pick the wrong endpoint by that fraction/hair of a distance, then all dimensions and associated/connected geometry will be off by that much and it compounds as you move down the wall.
good thought, just can't do this.

Then Duplicate all affected Building Materials, duplicate all affected Composite Structures, and assign the duplicate Composite to one of the adjoining Walls.

Or maybe the easiest it just to draw those lines, as Stephen suggested. (Very unBIM-like, I know).

HUBBOY.....2D lines which will need to be kept track of....amongst another 1001 things that need to be kept track of. Humm....seems I need another solution.
I hate the 2D fake out....just doesn't allow me to sleep well at nights knowing there are 2D white fills, and 2D lines mimicing something that "should" know how to represent itself in 2D coming out of the 3D model...hubboy.
Hi Rob.

Are you using renovation filters to set up your model view? If you are, it is as simple as using the "Do not intersect" in the additional filter options for your new elements.

Hope that helps.
Best regards.
