topic Elevation of a roof in Documentation

Hello,

I am trying to do an elevation of a pitched roof. Is it possible when you are in an elevation to add an elevation viewpoint with the same angle as the pitched roof? Why is it possible to add an elevation viewpoint when you are in an elevation view and nothing happens?

I need to get the real dimensions instead of viewing the roof projected from a normal elevation or a roof plan. Is there any way to see a pitched roof perpendicullary?

Thanks in advance!

I'm working with AC24 and iMac

@sergi-estruch It is possible but the workflow is a bit different. You need to create a 3D Document with an axonometric view of the roof. The basics are you set up a 3D view using axonometric (swap from perspective), there is setting under View > 3D Navigation Extras > Look to perpendicular of clicked surface. Click on your roof plane and you will end up with a flattened view of the roof plane. From there you need to create a 3D Document from the 3D View.

It isn't the easiest of things to manage, but as far as I know this is the only way to extract this kind of view from the model.

Hopefully this will point you in the right direction.

There are ways to extract the data/dimensions your after into Interactive Schedules too if that is of any interest to you. I need the lengths of all the hips, valley, ridge, surface areas for roofs a lot so I model roofs ( as well as most things) for the sake of the Interactive Schedules which I like to show on the roof plans. They auto-populate of course as the roof is modeled.
