Wow, thank you very much Sam3 for picking up the torch and creating the poll! I've made sure to vote.

Just for posterity, my workaround has been to export raster image slices of the point cloud using CloudCompare and importing these images into ArchiCAD. It's annoying and time-consuming but what else can you do (other than switch back to Revit...)

At least you can save your sliced views effectively in CloudCompare. Now there's a fantastic program!

<T>Hi,
My first try with a e57 was a great success. 600 MB point cloud just opened and an .lcf was created. It was really easy and visual to build my virtual building in and around the point cloud. Kudos to GS for a good implementation. I'll be interesting when I get a larger cloud file...
However I cant get the points to show in plans or elevation layouts. Any tricks or use images?
Come on. This is a huge limitation.

Sections and plans of the point cloud MUST be to scale.
Having to manually scale the 3D viewports is NOT a satisfactory workaround!

Even Revit can print point cloud views directly, albeit rasterised.

Archicad needs to implement printing point clouds directly, as vector or raster.
Alternatively / additionally we need to be able to layout 3D viewports to scale effectively.

I would vote for this feature. How do I vote? I work on renovation jobs, and we have recently brought 3D scanning into our workflow. I recently saw the video linked below, and have been trying to figure out how to accomplish the workflow shown here in Archicad. If only we could view point clouds in layouts, we could use sections of the point cloud as the as-built drawings, thus obviating the scan-BIM process. This would greatly reduce work while at the same time increasing the accuracy of as-built drawings.

Go to the wishes section and search for a post relating to this subject.
I just did a quick search but didn't see anything related.
So create your own wish there - probably best in the 'Documentation Wishes' section.

Don't forget to add a poll so you and others can vote.
And ideally come back here and post a link to that wish, so others reading this post can find it easily without searching.

So if you feel strongly enough about this, create a post and see what sort of support you get.
It is a little bit of an effort, but unless someone does it, you will never know how important this subject is for others.
Please vote if this is important to you! I really want to adopt this workflow, as it would save time, reduce errors, etc., etc., but not having point clouds visible in scaled layouts makes it difficult if not impossible to do this in Archicad right now.
