Try this:
1. Go to the Menu. Options>Work Environment>Tracker and Coordinate Input
2. Make sure 'Prefer Polar Coordinates' is ticked
3. Go back to your dimensions and make sure the tracker is on.
4. Select the dimension and right click. Select move the drag.
5. With the tracker on(found in standard toolbar) it will allow you to enter an accurate distance in the direction of travel.
6. If this is not working try to type 'S' which may deactivate snap and repeat 1 -5 .

Hope this helps.

accurate dimension line offset

<T>Hello everybody,
I would like to place dimension chain exactly 250 mm offset from measured wall. How could I do it?

I cant input "R" distance correctly, because it works from absolute coordinate origin.

How could I indicate the distance?

Even "User Origin" does not work here.

Please, help</T>

you could draw a line from the wall 250mm long then drag the dimension chain to the end of the line.

1. Click the 2 points and double click to get the hammer
2. Place the Pointer over one of the points
3. Type X, then the distance, then +
4. hit enter
-----
If you want to move to the other side use X "Dist" - for vertical type Y. If you use Imperial units when going in negative direction (either left or downwards) you have to type -- (2 minus signs).
