This has never been the case in Section. Only in Elevation can the walls be dimensioned associatively, AFAIK.

It's very easy to tell when a dimension is associated - in any view. As you place it, the dimension anchors will show up as circles (squares represent static dimensions). Once it is placed you can hover over the dimension node and the associated elements will highlight, assuming you have 'Highlight contours of related elements' enabled in your WE.

Cheers,
Associative Dimensions not Working in Elevation view

<T>For some reason, associative dimensions don't seem to be working for me on the section view. Example, if I am in the 2D view and add a dimension to either side of a wall, it becomes 'associative', and if I change the length of the wall, the dimension is updated.

When I am in the section view if I try the same thing it doesn't seem to work. I've been trying to see what I'm doing wrong so I've created a new very simple model and am following along with the section 3.2 to the ArchiCAD 10 interactive training guide ' Adding dimensions to elevations'.

I click the dim. tool and the elevation dim., static is unclicked, and then I click on the top of the wall. The dimension is added. Later I change the height of the wall, but the dimension doesn't change.

Any clues appreciated....</T>

It's very easy to tell when a dimension is associated - in any view
Thanks, I have been playing with this some more on the Elevation view. I can get some things dimensioned with the circular indicator which are in fact associative.

The initial thing I was trying to dimension is the lower left corner of a window. When I go to the lower left corner the cursor changes and I get guide lines to insert the dimension, but it is square, not associate. The only place on the window where I can put the associate dimension is 'inside it', which wouldn't be helpful for someone reading a drawing.

Could it be layers for dimensions are not on?
No - they are on, I was always seeing the dimensions, they were just not changing when I moved the associated object.

You get the circular indicators only at the hotspots at the corners
of the wall hole. Any other point will be indicated by the intersection
cursor form and if you insert a dimension point it will place
a square indicator and will be a static dimension.
The cursor form will also show as a check mark
at the facet points along a curved edge so it is useful
to have "Highlight contours of related elements enabled"
so you can tell when you are at a wall hole corner point.
