Level dimension marker on walls

My project requires that I note the height of each wall on the plan. I thought the level dimension marker would do this easily but it appears not to work with walls . . . what's up with that! Any solutions?
Surely some bright person out there has run across this problem and found a solution.

there is a "locator" object from Archiradar at

Check "graphic operators"
You can adjust it's position in the 3d window and see the values on plan.

A Label that reads the height would be OK.

If it has not been posted as a wish it should be. I know I have been forced to model foundations with slabs instead of wall in areas with complex stepped foundation if I want to use the level dimension abilities in plan view.
