ArchiCAD 10 will include a Measure command.
I guess it is in the AC 10 New Features Guide mentioned in another post.

measuring distances with using dimension tool

<T>This is a rather basic question, but it is driving me mad. I used to use ArchiCAD 6.5 and then 7.0 frequently a few years and was quite fast in it. However, since changing firms I've switched softwares and am now out of practise. I am back on board (only ArchiCAD 9) though the memory is only slowly creeping back.

I remember that something as basic as measuring distances (for checking rather than documenting) only required a short cut and didn't require the need to use the 'dimension' tool, but I can't remember what it was. Can somebody help?</T>

Place a user origin at the starting point (alt+shift) or (option+shift(mac))
Then move your curser to the point you want to know the distance of. Read the distance from the coordinate pallet.
