<R>I do like that AC copied the story levels option from Revit, since it is one less thing to dimension, but AFAIK the "correct" way to represent the Base level should be 0'-0" without the ± sign (at least that is how I was taught).
± can give the contractor the wrong impression.
Is it 0'-0" or can it be almost 0'-0"?
Can the contractor say "well, the elevation says ± so 1" error either way is not my problem".</R>

You're absolutely right, it doesn't make sense. The only time to use ± is to give a tolerance. ±0 is meaningless.

You can turn off the '+' in the settings of 'Basic Story Marker', which also gets rid of the ±, without affecting the negative sign. Or it wouldn't be too hard to hack the marker object itself. But they should still fix it.

unfortunately not. the biggest improvement to these storey levels now would be to choose a level datum from the three reference levels defined in the 'Working Units and Levels' preference.
You can set the stories to any elevation you want.
... and now you have a problem when you have to specify the level of anything to the current storey now.

It is much cleaner to change the elevation of the stories. All the elements are still at the same relative height to a storey, the level dimensioning is automatic, as is the actual storey level.

Give it a try.

You can move them by right clicking on them and accessing 'Edit Story Levels' from the context menu. Keep in mind this is a modeless dialog, so don't hit OK until you are finished moving them.

Otherwise you can right click on nothing and selection Section/Elevation Settings... from the context menu to acess the Story Levels in Section Panel of the S/E Settings dialog.
i model my ground floor/storey 0 at project zero and then use the reference levels in 'Working Units and Levels' to offset all datum height levels down. i want the storey level markers to pick up the values from the reference levels so that i too can show my storey levels at their correct levels relative to the survey datum!
