<T>OK, I don't ask this without doing a search here and having gone over a few related answers still don't seem to find exactly what I'm looking for.

I can understand the process of selecting/dragging a Master Layout from another ArchCAD 10 doc but how do you access a Master Layout Template-with firm info and graphics-when it is a Plot maker document and thus the browse function in Layouting in 10 will not find or open it. And it seems I could fairly quickly add firm data and create a new firm template to an ArchiCAD template(s) that ArchCAD so briefly mentions in documentation as available but can't navigate to it- per David Maudlin's description on Oct 20th to same question- I can't find ACAD 10 Defaults where supposedly the templates lie hidden. I have searched from the lousy XP engine for both the folder and the file and no luck

Still just starting to understand the whole layout-publishing process- I'm sure it all has an ease and logic that is available as I use it more- but am finding the documentation and online training vids a bit lacking.

Also, totally unrelated, but where does one switch off line weights to scale-(monitor only-while working) in that I can't see any reason whatsoever that one would want fat thick lines in tight magnification views while you are trying to select/drag/measure objects to one another.

Thanks much for any help

A MAC/ Vectorworks Whiz here but struggling along as a newbie in both Windows XP and ArchiCAD - ACAD 10 is so much better than 9 though!</T>

Open the LBK in Archicad 10 and save it as an AC10 PLN. AC10 will create the necessary masters, then you can import them into another file.

You can turn the Line Weights off under On-Screen Display Options (I think under Design, but I have my own drop-down menus so I cannot say for sure)
On-screen options are under the View menu by default.

Am I correct in assuming that ArchiCAD 10 will open plotmaker files? I open a Plotmaker file in Plotmaker and check to make sure that it has the default firm/project graphic layout that I'm looking for but then when I try to navigate-browse to open for the exact same document from ArchiCAD they don't show up in the same folder. I can now find the layout templates that I'm looking for-at least Plotmaker file layouts-but only when navigating to them from the windows environment, none of these files will show up to open from ArchiCAD. What silly thing am I doing wrong here?

Unfortunately this "firm" is me -the CAD/Computer designer guy on a rather messy PC (her choice of platform) left over from previous employee- and an older non-CAD using associate/boss on a MAC platform, that's it. So I'm rather on my own here in training myself.

I figured out the lineweight option, thanks.

Thanks again for your help.

Update- OMG! Just figured out the file type option of opening i.e. lbk and can now open files Whew! I thought I was going crazy here.

Sometime's just spelling out my issue is helpful so these small victories mean so much to me
