<T>I had a crash during publishing and wanted to work on the saved file that I knew that with the autosave option it is stored in the autosave folder.
I went over the autosave folder looking for the file and with my surprise that the autosaved file doesn't exists!
I checked the work enviroment profile under data safety and double checked where the autosave files were stored, but the file doesn't exists.
Does nybody knows what happened?????
Thanks</T>

These might seem like dumb questions, but:

Did you have autosave turned on?

Did you perform enough tasks since your last save to activate autosave?

I do have autosave turned on (attaching a display image)
On the other question, yes, I did lots of things after my last save.
I'm worried.
Thanks Dwight

Another thing Dwight,
I also wanted to use the backup copy and also as my surprise the backup copy was done yesterday!
does it sound strange?

The backup is unrelated to the autosave. Does the backup save time correspond to the last time you did a real save of your working file?

No, the regular save was done at 11:30 am yesterday and the backup was done at 9:30 pm day before yesterday.

Then you should open the regular save.
The backup copy is always the next to last regular save.
There is one piece of advice: get into the habit of almost unthinkingly pressing CTRL+S at regular intervals because that is what creates a new regular save and turns the the last regular into the backup copy.
Every time you make some series of operations and you say to yourself: I do not want having to redo this: press CTRL+S.

Thanks Lazslo, but my question about the autosave file is still in the air at the beggining of the thread.
Why don't I have the autosave file?
thanks again

I cannot answer this question with confidence.
There is an article on Wiki about this topic:
<S></S><LINK_TEXT text="http://www.archicadwiki.com/TechNotes/N ... er%20crash">http://www.archicadwiki.com/TechNotes/No%20auto-saved%20file%20after%20crash</LINK_TEXT><E></E>

One other thing that can cause such a behavior is: if the operating system makes an error while trying to create the Autosave files then the autosave files will become damaged and there will be no autosave file.
Or if there is a power failure during that several seconds while the autosave file is being written out onto the hard drive: the autosave file will be damaged and lost.
I am saying this just to tell you that there can be cases when the autosave does not occur for a reason beyond ArchiCAD's control.

Thanks Lazslo,
I think I have the answer
I thought that the complete file was autosaved and I could open it whenever I wanted, but it seems that a autosave file can be opened only 1 time when the system crashes, it tells you with an icon that you have a auto saved file if you want to open it, but this is the only time you can open it, if you don't open it at this time, you can't later.
thanks again.

Correct, that's how it works.
If you do not open it then, ArchiCAD considers you will not need it at all and deletes it.
