Renovation Status overwrites

Hey team,

I’ve been working on a remodulation project and I’ve added some details with the RENOVATION STATUS. In one of these details, I created an element line LED profile light to show during inspections. I wanted to make it an element because I added PROFILE VALUES and lined the SPECIFICATION NUMBER. I later referred to the SPECIFICATION MANUAL for this.

The issue is that when I add these elements to the details, they don’t show up on the schedule. So, I had to create a separate layer to make them visible on the schedule.

Using RENOVATION STATUS there is no overwrite for planned, can not build an overwrite to leave things as is

I’m working on a remodeling project using the RENOVATION STATUS. There are three overwrites: EXISTING, DEMOLITION, and NEW CONSTRUCTION. I’ve noticed that when planned, the overwrite is always NEW CONSTRUCTION. I’m planning to create four sets of drawings.

EXISITING

DEMOLISH

NEW CONSTRUCTION

PLANNED: This one is for the building that’s already being completed. I can achieve this by deleting the element in DEMOLISH and changing the NEW CONSTRUCTION to EXISTING.

But I won’t have this set of drawings until I complete this sequence. It would be great if we could create an overwrite for the RENOVATION STATUS, but that’s not possible right now.

I aim to create interior elevations where all new elements are displayed with their design finish, while existing elements are not. This could not be achieved using the Renovation Status. However, I found a solution using a simple overwrite.

The new overwrite has two simple criteria, please see the attachments for details.

It seems that you have multiple queries jumbled together there in that first comment ( I would suggest creating one post per question to make it easier for other users to follow)

If I’m understanding your goal correctly, you can achieve what you’re trying to show by customizing the Renovation Filters, without having to delete your elements that are set to "To be Demolished" nor change the status of the "Existing" elements to new.

It’s important to note that the Renovation system in Archicad has two key components:

Renovation Status: This is where you assign elements as Existing, To Be Demolished, or New.
Renovation Filters: These control how the renovation statuses are displayed, with the following options that can be applied to each of the statuses:
- Show: Displays the element normally, without any overrides.
- Hide: Prevents the element from being visible.
- Override: Applies a graphical override to the element.

Based on your description, you can create an additional "Planned Status" Renovation Filter with the following settings in order to accomplish your goal:

To Be Demolished: Set to Hide.
Existing: Set to Override.
New: Set to Show.

Thank you again for your comments. I wanted to edit my comments to clean them up but wasn’t sure how to delete or edit posts. As you can see, one of my comments was sent twice. I deleted the comment but couldn’t delete the post.

To clarify, I found the problem, and it was resolved once I restarted the computer. I managed to make it work as per my last comment.
