So, I decided to recover the file, which I hadn’t done previously, and to my surprise, an empty box appeared where the saved view should have been. This was obviously what I needed! I expanded the edges of the box and brought the view back to the center, and that turned out to be the fix. I initially thought the crashes meant the file wasn’t working or responding, but I was just too quick to give up and worried about messing it up further. So thankyou 🙂

Hi everyone,

I'm a bit rusty with Archicad, and I'm encountering an issue that I hope has a simple fix.

Saved View Not Showing on Layout:

I created a saved view, but when I place it on a layout, it doesn’t display anything.

I noticed the dimensions of the saved view are set to zero, and when I try to change them, they revert to zero again. Could this be why the view isn’t appearing on the layout?

Ground Floor View Problem:

My ground floor view shows perfectly fine on one layout page. However, when I try to drag it onto a different page, it doesn’t display.

This makes me wonder if there’s an issue with my ground floor view itself.

Has anyone encountered these issues before, and could you suggest what might be going wrong? Any tips or steps to troubleshoot would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Operating system used: Windows

If you set the View to use the Internal Origin, the View will not move if you add something that changes it's extents.

I have just encountered this exact issue except when I recover the file it turns the View into a fixed .dwg and as soon as I move it in any way it disappears again. I have the same 0 x 0mm showing on the Layout for the placed View but if I look at the bottom left corner of the Layout view, in the Properties section I see "0E + 79 / 0E + 79 ".

I've tried Fit Frame to Drawing and the file immediately crashes and when I recover it I go right back to the start of the issue as I have explained above.

Turns the View into a fixed .dwg? If you open the View, can you see what ever you are wanting? I am guessing that you have some entity that is very far away from everything else within your View. Ideally, everything is relatively close to your Project Origin.

I can see everything in the View and interact with it as needed and normally, but when I put it on the Layout it doesn't show at all.

I tried the solution with Fit to Frame and it crashed like Gauzey's did but then when I recovered the file there was a fixed .dwg on the layout of the View that couldn't be interacted with in any way.

I have gone into the View and hit the centre to the page button. It would appear as though there is something far away from Project Origin as you suggest but when I Ctrl A nothing shows up to let me know what it is.

Ctrl + alt + a => Turn off objects

When selecting all, only the hotspots will be visible when zoomed extremely far out. Said hotspots for objects can be located in unrelated locations, so while the hotspots for it might be near the rest of your model, the actual geometry might not be. If the above helps, you will have to go through your objects to figure out which is the culprit.

Still have zero clue what you mean by "fixed .dwg"...
