Layout freeze when clicked on

Anyone running into this issue? Anytime when I'm in the Site and Project info layout and trying to adjust the layout to fit, it just freezes after I click on it, can't right click or do anything. It's like layout is trying to refresh cause you can see in the Info box (layer, border line, size etc) is glitching.

I never had this problem before, and noticed when was trying to adjust the layout in my design. I've restarted many times, hard shut down on archicad etc. Tried in a blank template file and same issue was happening...

Seems maybe the latest update caused this issue?

When you select that drawing, is the source "Internal"?

It is too small for me to see in your video

As the other layout is working fine, I would say it is something wrong with that particular drawing.

Is it OK if you 'open source view'?

I doubt it is software related if other layouts are OK.

It does say internal. It's not just that drawing, but any other drawing / schedule in that layout just freezes the program.

If I right click first, I'm able to get to 'open source view', but once I go back to the layout then everything freezes again.

If it is just that layout page and not others, then I would still still suspect something in that layout.

You mention schedules - it could be one of those.

Try deleting one placed drawing at a time to see if it starts responding better.

Maybe even delete that entire layout and try re-creating it.

Don't save the file, or open a copy of the file so it doesn't matter if you destroy it.

Thanks for working with me on this Barry.

Deleting one by one didn't quite work, but deleting the entire layout and recreating seems to work for whatever reason.

Hi Beta Testers,

I also had this issue with AC28 and lost almost 3 days of work trying to fix it (had no idea what caused it), because Archicad becomes unresponsive and You need to END TASK Archicad.exe program and start again - CPU just keeps on spinning endlessly. None of AC28 updates or reinstalling AC helped, this happened on all other computers with specific layouts.

I can very much agree with the ISSUE here... I have been trying to diagnose this for about a year now.... It seems to have STARTED with an update to v27, but has continued on since.

My original diagnosis was that a TITLE TYPE that I had created (which has worked FINE for 10 years or so) seemed to be the cause (never proven, though)

My title type reads the GRID and draws a box / title bar based on the grid.

All is well when ON THE LAYOUT in the PRINTABLE AREA, but seemed to lock up when dragged OFF the printable area. (again, even doing this previously caused NO PROBLEMS).

But now, with a legacy of drawings hanging around layouts but OFF the printable area, will cause this lockup.... Typically when SELECTING that drawing. In other words, just navigating to the sheet seems ok, but once selected.... lock up.

One by one I'm deleting them using the ORGANIZER / NAVIGATOR...

I just experienced this this morning... Sending email to Graphisoft Tech now (but have in the past without a solution yet)...

I am convinced something governing this changed in the core scripting of ArchiCAD in one of the update releases of 27...

I am experiencing this issue too. I am working on a Windows platform and it's not just one sheet. I would say it's kind of random on which sheet will freeze on me when I open it up. Lately I have had floor plans freeze too. This must be an Archicad issue.

We're currently experiencing this and we think we have tracked it back to staff copying older ArchiCAD parts into V28 detail views and pulling in Master GDL files that aren't behaving. The issue is only experienced on sheets, not in the detail or worksheet views in the project or view map. Even text boxes and labels can create the issue. Selecting the drawings on the sheet to remove them recreates the problem. Drawing a selection box around the offending drawings on the sheet seems to work better but there's often still a freeze.

We had the same problem in our office. And it turned out that there was a missing drawing placed on the master layout, set to auto update. So Archicad was trying to find the link and update it with no success. At the moment we deleted the specific drawing the problem was solved. In another case there was a missing drawing placed in one of the stories, but as it was not visible in the layout we couldn't figure it out straight away. The lesson of the week for us is to always check for Drawing status in the Drawing Manager!

Thank you so much Kpetrocheilou!!! You have solved our ongoing problem that has been following us for a year or more already. I had to track this all the way back to our Template as the problem originated there. We so much appreciate your feedback on this.
