Is there a way to define a sort-of boundary within my model, that is then recognised as the boundary by which my views are then cropped.

I'm coming from Revit, and recall being able to draw 'scope boxes' in the model which you could then choose to define the extent of the view as it would appear on the layout.

Operating system used: Windows

No, there is no such automatic option.

When a View is placed as a Drawing on a Layout, in the Drawing Settings Dialog, Frame panel, you have the "Manually resized frame" option, but then you have to resize the Drawing's boundaries manually. One thing that can help with that is if you place Hotspots at the corners/nodes of your desired Drawing Boundary. Then it will be easier to manually resize the Drawing's frame (boundary polygon) with the help of those Hotspots.

I would use a separate Layer for these Hotspots so they can be hidden when not needed.

Although you can not set a specific boundary to the views, you can set a general area.

Open the view and zoom to the area you want when you place it as a drawing.

Then open the view settings and change the 'Zooming' to 'Current Zoom'.

This will now place the drawing with the frame cropped to that zoom.

NOTE, when you check back in the view settings it will now say 'Zoomed Area' because it is remembering the last zoomed area you set.

But you can change it again just following that procedure again.

If you think this solves your issue then do mark the post as solved.

If not then don't and maybe go to the wishes forum to make a wish for this feature.

Check first to see if there is a similar wish already.

If this were my question, I would not mark these answers as Solutions because there were answers, but the specific issue was not solved since there is no such specific functionality in Archicad.
