I am getting a ' renovation status is hidden' message when I attempt to use the renovation existing filter. The only way I can draw a line for instance is to draw it in the renovation proposed filter and change its status back to existing. I am sure this is an easy fix but I cannot find it.

In the Renovation Palette, can you select another Renovation Filter in which the Renovation Status is not "Hidden" for the status you want to use?

Also, based on what you are writing, you might want to check the Online Help to see the difference between Renovation Status (an element setting) and Renovation Filter (a View setting).

Can you show me two screenshots?:

1. Select the element you just placed and show me the Settings Dialog so I can see its Renovation Status

2. Show me the Renovation Filter Dialog for the Reno Filter you are using so I can see the settings (Show, Hide, Override) for displaying the "Existing", "To be Demolished", and "New" statuses.

Based on your screenshots:

If you have the "...Existing" or "...Demolition" Renovation Filters active, then any element with the "New" Reno Status will be hidden.

When you have the "..Proposed" Renovation Filter active, you will be able to see elements with the "New" Reno Status because they are set to "Show", not "Hide" as in the other two Renovation Filters.

So, basically, what you need to remember is that when you want to create an element with a given Renovation Status, you have to have a Renovation Filter active in which elements with that given Renovation Status are set to "Show" or "Override".

The problem I am experiencing is shown on the attached screenshot which shows I cannot set the renovation status to existing when the existing filter is active. In other words lines, walls etc cannot be set with an existing renovation status without changing it retrospectively.

The renovation filter for all tool default settings will be greyed out.

If you turn on the renovation palette, you can set the status to what ever you want and it will affect all new elements you place.
