Window visibilty when placed between ground & first floor. i.e. half way up a stair

How do I get the window to be visible on the first floor plan, when it sits below the cutting plane i.e between ground & first floor half way up a staircase

Do you have a single wall on the ground floor that is 2 storeys high and set to show on all relevant storeys?

Then that wall should be set as 'Projected with Overhead'.

Now place the window in the ground floor wall but set it to 'Symbolic' Floor plan display, so it ignores the cutting plane.

Turns out, the problem was there was a 2D fill over the top, so you couldn't see the changes until the 2d work was deleted.
