ArchiCAD 29.0.2 (3200) INT FULL / standard template/lib etc

I don't know what's going on. 😕

These four drawings are linked to four views.

Each view has different MVO settings for windows and doors.

After updating these four drawings (either together or separately), they display inconsistently with the source views.

I tested this example in ArchiCAD 27-29 and unfortunately encountered the same error .

However, everything works correctly in ArchiCAD 26.

What is the problem?
Can someone take a look at the attached PLN source file (Ac29 int) / zip.

What is the problem? Is this just me? Are there any environment settings or other issues?

If you are experiencing an issue where the view placed on the layout is appearing differently to the view when opening in its appropriate view window (Elevations, Section, Worksheet, Floor Plan etc.) it’s usually a sign of a bug in the file.

if you select the View on the Layout and right-click and select ‘open on source view’ does the resulting open window display differently to what you see on the Layout?

if this is the case, close the file, leave Archicad open and then select File, Open. Navigate to you file and make sure you tick the open and repair option the open the file. This normally fixes these types of issue.

Repairing the file doesn't help. I also created a simple test project using a standard template (standard wall, window, door, standard MVO 01..., 02..., 03...).

Regarding updating based on source views:
1. Opening the source view of the first drawing displays the correct view, and then updating works correctly.
2. Opening the source view of the second drawing displays the correct view, and then updating works correctly.
3. Opening the source view of the third drawing displays the correct view, and then updating works correctly.
4. Opening the source view of the fourth drawing displays the correct view, and then updating works correctly.
5. But now, selecting the four drawings mentioned above and updating them will make all four drawings look—warning: the same as the fourth drawing!?

It seems that ArchiCAD remembers the last opened source view and links to all four selected and updated drawings, ignoring their own links to different source views.

And strangely enough, the 2D drawings on the layout update OK! 🤔

When you look at the MVO of each view, does it show as missing or Custom?

I have had that issue before, which can create chaos like this.

Usually it is been noticed in files that have been pushed forward from a previous AC version.

@JeffH each view has clearly NAMED layer/pen/Mvo settings... etc. So no chaos of anonymous names here.

I discovered the described problem in my national version of Ac.
Therefore, to avoid suspicion of my own "junk", I decided to check everything in a clean Archicad environment.
Therefore, I specially installed the Ac29 INT version and used the standard Archicad 29 Template.tpl to insert a regular wall and a regular window and door. I then saved several views with different MVO settings for windows and doors. I then inserted the views into the layout and unfortunately the problem was confirmed.
In previous posts I attached the PLN asking if someone could download it and open it (Ac29xxx + possibly correct libpack paths) and check whether the bulk update of the layout views does not create drawings that are incompatible with the source views?
I emphasize that the error concerns layout drawings from 3D views!
Updating drawings from 2D views (individually or collectively) is OK!

Another test, which I wrote about in the first post:
1. Test project created in Ac26 int (updating drawings to the layout is consistent with the source views) - original Ac26 int test project in the zip file attachment
2. The same Ac26 int project opened in Ac29 int (with the libraries from Ac26 int, of course), and the problem of incorrectly updating drawings to the layout returns again:

For comparison: unfortunately, this problem persists for me in versions Ac27/28/29 int

It doesn't matter whether I open the test project from Ac26 int in Ac27/28/29 int, or create separate/new test projects from scratch in individual versions of Ac27/28/29 int.

I have my suspicions; since MVO's have had bugs in the past, that I'm not certain were ever fully repaired/resolved, and the MVO tie into the libraries used, it could be a library management issue. Are you using a mix of .libpack and .lfc? or have multiple versions of the same libraries (IE 25 and 27) loaded?
I'm just grasping at straws here, as I really don't know what the trigger could be; but seems to clearly be a bug in the program.

1. @Patrick M, as I wrote before, to be sure that something is wrong, I finally used the standard template; in the case of Ac29, only the original libpacks (without any custom libraries) - a pure Ac29 project!

2. @Laszlo Nagy, ok, I'll report it to my local Archicad reseller

======================================

Edit

It couldn't be simpler!
I've attached the Ac26 project without external libraries (no doors/windows, etc.). It only contains an internal library with two simple objects, slightly modified to be 2D and 3D.
(downloaded from https://gdl.graphisoft.com/tips-and-tricks/custom-made-model-view-options-object/)

This confirms that, starting with Ac27+, there's a problem with correctly using MVO settings for 3D views inserted into the layout.

On January 11, 2026, I sent a description of the problem to my local ArchiCAD distributor. I attached an MP4+PLN file.
I haven't received a response as to whether my report has been forwarded to Graphisoft.

Three months have passed since January and the release of update 29.1.0, but the problem described in this thread hasn't been resolved. It still exists!

I've just seen this post and easily recreated this bug in AC28 INT 28.4.0 (7002) on Windows 10.

New file, default INT template, default settings. Just created 3 basic views with different MVOs. All views are set with "Auto Update".

It's weird that Archicad simply keeps the last updated 3D window and uses it whenever you update a 3D view placed on a layout.

It's not just inside Archicad, it's goes through when you export a pdf as well.

Tested this with Archicad 29.1 4006.

I can confirm this behaviour. I haven't realized this till now because I almost never put 3ds as layouts.

The thing is should we worry for other hidden bugs.

There must be someone from Graphisoft to check here isntead of going this whole process through resellers.

Your file is ready for test. nothing better than this to check.

Is GRAPHISOFT aware of the bug I described in this thread, which has been confirmed by other users?

And when can we expect a fix?

If you reported it to your local reseller, then they forwarded it to GS HQ so they are aware of it.

About time of fix: I would recommend again asking your reseller about this. If they reported it to GS HQ, they probably have a Defect ID and they may be able to get some info about it.

And when will they be fixed?

If the reseller sent it, than Graphisoft has received it.

When specific issues will be fixed, I do not have any information about that.
