Revision ID "00" showing "01" on Layouts & Publisher instead

Hi Graphisoft team

I have an issue in Archicad 29.1.0 (4006) on Windows 11 25H2 in the Book Settings.
On a NEW project, when I do the FIRST Transmittal Set, the Revision ID is set to start at "00" and the ID of Transmittal Set is also set to "00", but the Revision ID autotext on the Layouts & Layouts Names in the Publisher are showing revision "01".

I noted that this particular issue in Archicad 29 that I experience, was also reported for Archicad 28 in this post "REVISION ID-New Drawings" by @JCCARLOS0791 that also included other issues with Revsion IDs.

This is quite frustrating & forces us to issue Revision "00" with manual text on our Layout Masters on projects, then change the revision on our masters to autotext "Revision ID" and only do Transmittals from revision "01". This causes a contractual issue in our audit trails that Revision "00" is not showing in our Layout History Indexes. Having to manually fix this on any size projects to meet contract standard requirements is no joke.

Is this a known bug or am I missing something?

make sure you check the "override rev ID of all included layouts" box when setting up the transmittal set. you can re-open the transmittal set, then click the transmittal set details button (right most blue icon on the transmittal set line), and click that on.

Thanks @Patrick M, I tried this quick and it works once at least for the 1st set of Layouts in the Book.

Thereafter, the "Override Revision IDs" tick does not work as intended or should or as you propose.

In this images it shows random "dots" needed in the IDs to make them unique and force "zeros" in some way.

As you can see, no drawing was repeated in subsequent sets.

When I add new Layouts as the project move forward, Archicad should assign Revision "00" as per the settings in the top panel "IDS OF ITEMS IN THE BOOK". It should behave as instructed & expected. And that is what's not happening.

yes, it can be checked for one trasmittal but not another. And unfortunately, since book settings are locked for closed transmittal sets, you can't update after a new transmittal is opened.
in the screen shot you shared, there are multiple transmittals, and the only one that can be updated effectively is the 5th issue 00 set. You would need to delete all transmittals to get to the first, update that one, then systematically rebuild each transmittal with the approprate settings and attached layouts from there on.

You can "unlock" and edit earlier "Transmittal Set Details" without having to delete all the preceding transmittals,

BUT the date in the transmittal changes to the editing date (i think from memory, please check for current version of Archicad).

This is why we added "COMPANY DATE" and "COMPANY DRAWN BY" into our "Transmittal Set Scheme".

this date will change to the editing date.

our solution is to have a company date that can be used instead

Hi @Patrick M, by your reply, it looks like my issue is not outlined / highlighted clearly.

If I set the top panel "IDS OF ITEMS IN THE BOOK" to start revision numbering from "00" on a new project, I expect:

that when I create the 1st Transmittal Set "00" in a new project, that as per the Book settings, any & all Layouts that I include in that Transmittal Set will show Revision number "00",
when I create any next Transmittal Sets with Layouts that was:
(a) not included in the 1st Transmittal Set, the Revision numbers must be "00", and
(b) Layouts added to the same next Transmittal Sets, must show Revision numbers following the numeric sequence for each Layout, no matter the Transmittal Set number.

This means that Revision numbers follow logically without needing activating the Override Revision Numbers tick box (the Override only to be used in specific / custom cases). Override should not be necessary, the Book settings are set and the Layout Revision numbers should simply start at "00" and incrementally follow the sequence "01", "02", etc as applicable for each individual Layout, no matter what the Transmittal set number is.

This screenshot from my precious reply was made of totally unique Layouts in each Transmittal set, following your suggestion to use the Override Revision Numbers tick box.

The intention (and expectation) is to have each 1st Revision Number start at "00" of 1st time Transmittals of Layouts not transmitted before.

This image illustrates that it is not possible, even with Override Revision Numbers tick box, because Archicad will not allow us to have repeat Transmittal Set IDs.

It's great that we have the ability to do Overrides of the Revision numbers for special cases, but that is not the norm on any project. This problem is not resolved and needs seriously to be look at. It's not that complicated, the logic is standard. But Archicad seems to be following another, disconnected logic, or no logic at all.

This would be valuable if this remains in context of or from the standard logic base as set in the Book Settings though. I'll be sure to test this out and see how Archicad deals with the Revision number updates in different scenarios, to understand what we can expect it behavior is.

Your method to add "COMPANY DATE" and "COMPANY DRAWN BY" into the "Transmittal Set Scheme" is brilliant, I have not before gone that far. I'll definitely start doing the same. I can see it being very applicable in larger teams including this info in Transmittal Indexes for reporting, where drawings are checked & Published by a specific person, that is not the person/s that did the drawings.

I will prefer to just deal with the change in the date, rather than "changing the computer system date" as suggested by @Lingwisyer. This may not be possible for all users, especially if their workstations are managed centrally by an IT department, and doing so regularly may cause other problems elsewhere in apps or the operating system itself.

But you can't edit the Override Revision ID, or Create ID settings.

I think there are some misunderstandings here.

Maybe also from my side, so please bear with me.

So first of all, the tabs have nothing to do with each other.

The "IDs of items in this book" control the Layout IDs. That's it.

Transmittal history is something else.

Second of all: Of course it's possible to have the same ID (layout revision) in different transmittals....

Third of all: The ID of the transmittal is controlled implicitly: If you start with the first one being a "A", the next one will be automatically "B". If its a number, it will increment. I use exclusively alphabetical IDs for my layout revisions, and numbers for the transmittals, so that these never will be confused.

The transmittal ID is not really used anywhere, at least by me. It's just a counter, but I ignore it. Maybe there is a use case I do not see, but only the revision IDs of the layouts themself are of importance.

You are so right... looking to solve the issue to get the Revision IDs to start from "00", I mixed the 2 and got it wrong on the 1st panel ("IDs of items in this Book" controls the Layout IDs).

Please tell me how exactly did you get the Layout Revision IDs in this screenshot to all show "00"?

In my post & comment outlines my new project file with clean / new Transmittals keep starting Revision IDs at "01" and then increments normally from there.

I hope it's without needing activating the Override Revision Numbers tick box.

In our case, the standard of our client Architect that we're helping, needs to use numeric IDs for Transmittal & Layout Revisions all starting from "00" as prescribed by their client's requirements. We have no issue with how Transmittal & Layout Revisions automatically increment, as long as we can start from "00".

You're welcome.

Like I said, there is no way to explicitely make a rule. Instead you have to make the first index manually. There is no other way. So you must set it.

You have to go to the layout (or do it through the schedule) and edit it the ID there:

That's all there is to it.

Ok @runxel that is exactly what I did as the image in my original post shows.

To get the Layouts in that 1st Transmittal set, I had to activating the "Override Revision Numbers" tick box which creates a mess in further Transmittals.

But I will try this again with a brand new, clean file like before. Let's see...

Maybe I explained myself not well enough, but I did not use the "Override" button. Instead I make a new transmittal. The new, open transmittal will be filled with all layouts at first. Now, in the German version the default is that everyone starts on index "A". Let's presume that I want a numerical index instead.

I have to go to the layout, open its settings. Then I can change it to lets say "00" manually. Next time there is a change it will now automatically increment to "01".

Of course, if there is a change and you still want the same index?.... That's very obviously not possible. It would be deceitful anyway.
