Status and Revision on Revision History

Hi,

I think maybe this issue is very simple but I cannot wrap my head around transmissons vs revisions vs changes in the context i am trying to use them. I have spent a lot of time on the Archicad 29 guide and the forums and I still can't work out how to do this properly. The problem is:

Currently our revision history looks like this:

The status of all the drawings is controlled via a transmittal set ID (D1, D2, (for design issues) P1, P2, (for planning issues) T1, T2, (for tender issues) etc.)

The revision letter of any individual drawing is currently controlled via a "change ID" which I manually add to the layouts incimenting them by one letter each time. This is what I have been made aware is the "wrong" way of doing things as it means I cant use the change feature for its actual purpose and also I cannot automatically add the revision letter to the exported drawing file name in the publisher.

Is there an intended way of having a status of a drawing (which is consistent across all drawings the moment they are issued) and then a revision letter of a drawing (which simply increments by one letter everytime the drawing is re-issued)? I think I am supposed to be using Transmittal set ID for the status and then Revison ID for the lettered revision of the drawing but I cannot work out how to get the revision as a letter that incriments individually on each drawing. This is the national standard here so I can't really just settle for numbers.

Do let me know if there are any questions as I am finding this unessesarily confusing myself... I could also be missing something very simple.

Thanks so much in advance.

Operating system used: Windows

Could you not add an extra schema field to the Transmittal set, and then add that field as a column to the transmittal object on the layout master?

Our office workflow is to apply changes directly to the sheet to trigger them to rev up. Works perfectly for us.
Can you clarify what you mean when you say you are using the Change ID to trigger the rev up?

in terms of getting the revision number to be a letter, just type in A in that field in the layout settings when include it in the first transmittal set, it will then auto increment to B and C etc every subsequent issue it’s included in.
Archicad annoyingly always defaults to 01, but you can override it to any structure, and it’ll increment the last number or lettter, eg C1, C2
