I'm glad (and not so glad) to hear that fonts changing isn't just my problem. At the beginning of our project all of the zone names would change from Arial Western to Symath and now my dimension text on some details is changing to Wingdings 3. I haven't made note of when exactly it happens, but what is going on?

<T>Our firm has recently up graded to archicad 8.1v2 & Plotmaker 3.1.0 v2
and the os to OSX 10.3.3
well if i open up an old plotmaker layout the fonts ( avant garde -is our firm's standard for archicad) change to monaco , so i have to resave every individual plotmaker from archicad again to fix this problem.
does anyone know why plotmaker will not recognize these old plotmakers( which were oric, made in v6.5)
this is a time problem for a few of our jobs which have about 300+ sheets to the project!
any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanx
Fonts and font index numbers have been a major problem with PlotMaker (even before AC8/PM3).

Have you tried opening up the source .PLN/.PLP file and re-saving/publishing the .PMK files? The fonts should be fine in AC (because AC doesn't rely on the font index number like PM). The fonts should then be reset to the correct index/name in PM once the .PMKs are refreshed.

David,
Thanks for the reply,
yes i've done that and it does work, however, thats managable on a small job, but a large school project that has over a hundred sheets of architecturals, this could be very timely!
In reality, fonts change in AC all the time.

On many occasions, I have fonts change from Times Western to Times Hebrew among others. Not an isolated instance.

On a slightly different subject, layers combinations change consistently when I saveas to PMK. Every time the layer combination changes.
Font management in Windows is generally bad but it seems especially so in ArchiCAD. (BTW Has it improved any in XP? I am still using 2000; still haven't gotten around to installing the upgrade.)

I have always wondered why we are forced to choose between all the local variations (i.e. Arial Western, Arial Cyrillic, etc.) when no other program requires this. I assume that these variations are available in programs like Word etc. but we are not forced to choose them every time we go to the font menu.

I know that one case when fonts may change is after recovering data from an autosave after a crash. Font information is not stored in the autosave file, this is why such a thing can happen.
