What's really going to ruffle your feathers (......or give you a good laugh...) is if you visit the Wishlist section and sort the list to display them in terms of popularity and most-voted for wishes.

And then see what state most of those "most-requested items and features" currently are in on the Graphisoft development schedule and cycle.

On a positive note, I'm kind of impressed that they didn't go for the cynical play of planning to release a version 30 - as the last perpetual license version - chock full of new tools and features that people have been spending decades asking them to include.

But only as a ploy to try and coax the last perpetual licensee holdouts to switch to subscription, on the promise that they will from now on (or from then on) be releasing versions with much requested new features (only to revert back to form once they've locked many people into multi-year subscription deals).

Or at least it doesn't like they're going to try and be this cynical. We'll see when they finally release it later this year.

Nope, it seems like this is just what they are now, and we should expect a next version that doubles down on the previous several versions' key characteristic of being woefully underwhelming, predictably disappointing and utterly frustrating new releases with "new features" that no one really asked for,.... but which they over at GSHQ for some weird reason seem very excited about.

This is just our reality now.

The Archicad roadmap is honestly worrying

I just looked through the Archicad roadmap, and honestly, I am really disappointed.

When filtering for Archicad features, the “In Progress” list feels extremely thin. Dark Mode on Windows is nice, sure, finally. But apart from that, most of the items look like small workflow improvements, not the kind of core development users have been asking for for years.

At the same time, it feels like everything is being pushed toward AI. But honestly, we don’t need 100 AI features. We need Archicad itself to keep improving.

We need better core modelling tools. Better performance. Better documentation workflows. Better stair and railing tools. Better attribute management. Better renovation and design option workflows. Better reliability. Better handling of complex projects. Less workarounds. Less “almost there” tools.

AI can be useful, but it should not become a replacement for actually developing the main product. Most users are not paying an expensive subscription because they want marketing demos of AI features. We are paying because Archicad is supposed to be our main professional tool, every day.

And right now, it does not feel like the user requests that have been around for years are being seriously addressed.

The subscription price is high. The expectations are high. So the roadmap should show serious investment into the core product, not just small quality of life updates and a big AI push.

I am honestly at the point where I am considering changing software. Not because I want to, but because it is getting harder to justify paying this much when the development direction feels so disconnected from what many users actually need. Yes AI is handy, but there are 20 year old feature requests that have been hard ignored.

I’m saying this as someone who actually wants Archicad to succeed. But this roadmap does not give confidence. It feels like Graphisoft is not listening closely enough to the people using the software every day.

Please keep working on Archicad itself. That is what we need most.
