BIMx Pro on the Iphone with Google Cardboard...touche' GS!

I must say....when I received my Google Cardboard to use with my iphone using the BIMx Pro software...I wasn't expecting much.
Boy....was I certainly mistaken.
The sense of "space" you get as you walk around immersed in this 3d world is incredible.
Sure, the graphics and pixel issues are a bit noticable but that's only going to get much much better within the next year or so, so that's a non-issue. it's completely acceptable.
But the illusion that you are actually "inside" a building you designed is incredible.
Your mind is tricked into thinking that you can actually touch carpet paneling on a room for a home theater, that you can actually touch the countertops in the kitchen. That you can actually stand in a space and see rafters, beams, pitched roofs and look down from a second story balcony......amazing job guys....really.

My hats off to you all.
it's such a simple marriage of the BIMx software with the Google Cardboard and inexpensive too.

I'm considering sending my clients a few boxes...at $15 a box....it's a no brainer.

While I am impressed also, I wish you would make adjustments to the frame rate / motion to prevent motion sickness. I have experienced nausea using the desktop and Android and figured the VR might be better. I offered it to a couple of clients to try with the same result. Most experienced motion sickness.

I can't use it or offer it to my clients in the current state.

Hi gpowless! There is the basic setting of 1x,2x 3x speed. You have experienced motion sickness even with the slowest speed? Thanks, k

Yes, at all speeds. Clients have experienced the same at all speeds, as well. Iphone 6 with Bobovr VR

(BTW I am not overly sensitive. I can get on a boat in the choppiest of waves without any issues. Also I can view VR apps also without any effect.)

gpowless - does this happen if you have paused 'walking' and are just looking around? Is everyone just moving their heads too quickly? Or are the rooms that you are in extremely small?

I find 1x way too slow and typically have used 2x - except for tiny rooms, where something even slower than 1x could be useful.

VR motion sickness is a problem that has plagued the developers of VR on all platforms. It has to do with a disconnect between what the body feels and what the eye is seeing during movement. Even the high end platforms can't quite come to grips with it, so its no surprise that this is a problem for some people on Cardboard VR.

Very important with the cheaper devises like cardboard is to make sure the center divider hasn't shifted off of center and also to shift the phone around for the best image. I have found a 1/16th of an inch can make the difference between an ok slightly nauseous experience and an Oh Wow.

An hour after a ~3 min walkthrough at the slowest speed on Google Cardboard with an iPhone X I am still a mess feeling like I can throw up any moment.

Has anybody learned how to avoid this? (I read somewhere somebody saying it has to do with screen resolution, and that it doesn't happen with newer Android phones.)

Nausea is still a significant problem even with high end VR solutions. Just yesterday afternoon our interior designers had a virtual walk though of an apartment development we have designed even using the graphic artists dedicated system some felt I’ll and needed to rest for a while before they were safe to leave. The disconnect between what is seen by the eyes and what is sensed by the inner ear is very much a challenge, the only ‘easy’ solution I can see is that VR is experienced actually walking around in a large room
