How do u Save a portion of plan view as DWG?

Is there a simple way to save a portion of my plan view as a dwg. I tried using the Detail tool, but it removes all text and dimensions.

Marc,
Unfortunately this is not doable directly from ArchiCAD. What you will need to do is to import your PLN into Plotmaker and do it from there.

In your translation set up, which you will find when you publish to DWG in Plotmaker, you are give 3 different choices. In your case it's the first two that options that you are interested in.

If the AutoCAD user wants to continue working on your plans, then I suggest that you choose the second option "Model space with cropped drawing content"

If it for viewing purposes only then I suggest the first option.
What this in effect does is saves out only the information that you see in your Plotmaker view window, so be sure to adjust your Plotmaker window to coincide with the "Cropped" information that you want to save out as a DWG.

See the attached image.
HTH.
Cheers.

Thanks Ben:

It took me a while to figure it out...... when I used the "Paper space w/ full drawing" the dwgs/translator scaled correctly (1 autocad unit=1").

When I switched to "model space w/ cropped" the scale was off (48 to 1).
It cared that the drawing was 1/4" scale in plotmaker. After adjusting the units in the translator, I got what I wanted.

I have to admit..... I resized the Plotmaker window, well .... a few times before I realized I needed to resize the Plotmaker file window .....just like you said.
