IFC: Wall hole missing for Modular Window

Hi!

We are using the Modular Window in several places around our building, but when I save an IFC file using the "Data Exchange with Autodesk Revit Structure" translator, the resulting file does not have wallholes at the Modular window.

Please see the attached screenshots.

If I use the "Reference Model Export to Revit" translator then the windows do appear, but then the composite skins say their thicknesses are 0". The engineer has asked us before to include the assembly information if possible, so I'd like for this to be correct.

Does anyone know how to fix the window and the composite skin thickness? Thanks!

I just tried exporting ifc with the two revit translators and the Coordination view translator (in AC19). See screenshot from the export w the above mentioned translator.

I've been talking with Graphisoft Tech Support about this, and the issue does seem to be related to AC18. GTS was unable to replicate the issue in AC19.

Hi All,
We figured out that James’ problem originated from the Modular Window object. We advised him to contact the creator of the object. Best, k

We were having similar problems using ArchiCAD 20, importing into Revit 2017. Doors and Windows would not show up, but just at the walls that were part of a Module. Others did. Plus, Walls that were Trimmed to Roof were not trimming. Everything looked perfect in Solibri Model Checker, so we thought our IFC was fine.

Turned out we needed to use the "Reference Model Export to Revit" translator, and it worked. All elements show up correctly. The "General Translator" did not work, and "Coordination View" is no longer a choice in AC20.

This will be much easier to diagnose since we finally got a Windows computer with Revit (monthly subscription $250 as needed) in the office (we're all Mac/ArchiCAD). Before that, we were guessing what our consultants were doing and seeing. Now we can give them explicit instructions, or just give them the RVT files. It was tough to convince our business manager to cover the cost, but worth it.
