Importing 3d dgn and dxf files

I have very basic files like custom furniture and signage from Autocad and Microstation.

Sometime they will come in as a 2d but only show in one elevation and no where else
Most times NOTHING comes in

Tried but could not download and example

Are you opening them as Library Parts?
It is possible to open 3D DXF files as Library Parts ("File > Libraries and Objects > Open Object"), then select "Browse from file" in the "Open Library Part from" field, and select "DXF" from the "File of Type" field, then open the DXF file. This is the only way 3D data in it is imported into Archicad. If you open the DXF with the Open command, only 2D is imported.
In the case of DGN, only 2D information will come in, always.

No - not importing as a part.

I am just trying to open a dgn file - then I could edit as needed or add materials as needed then create a new gdl

When I import the dgn the models are ignored.
Nothing
