Just out of curiosity...do you allow the use of patches in your office?

Quite often we feel the need for patching stuff that doesn't meet our 2D standards. Curtain walls w doors for example...
I normally try not to even mention patch but rather model correctly but the 2D can sometimes be a pain in the a**.

I always aim to model the solution if possible, even to the extent of creating Complex Profile columns where AC can't resolve wall connections, such as external corners where different wall build ups meet. I haven't used the patch tool for years, even forgot it existed!

What about the differencies in the 2D plan view between windows/doors and CW? They just dont have the same simplified appearance. Looks a bit unprofessional on the drawings.

I can't help with that one, never had a job using a CW with door / window. Can you use a custom door / window?

Not really. Large projects and we model according to how it's going to be built. It needs to be quantifiable the same way.

Hi Mats,

My Infinite Openings tool (https://cadswift.com.au/products/Infinite-Openings.html), which you have, is also a CW panel, so perhaps you could use it to get the representation you need.

Several companies who use Infinite Openings do so to get specific operable types into the CW, such as louvers, top pivot windows and the Assa Abloy revolving doors.

If the representation doesn't cover what you need (don't forget the MVO Level of Detail function within) then let me know and I may be able to quickly adjust it to suit your needs.
