Server path mapping for macOS and Windows work enviroments

Anonymous
Not applicable
In AutoCAD there is a tool called "Server Path Mapping" which solves the problem when a project is used by both windows and mac systems. You can match windows' "X:" with "/Volumes/XYZ" and then your refs and placed images will be available on both systems from the same server.

Is there anything similar in ArchiCAD? How do you manage this problem?

Thanks

Szia,

In ARCHICAD we usually recommend to link to the full path - this is the easiest way to match it on both OS.

What I mean: if you have a common file server, which in your case is called "kozos", it is available through the internal network of your office. Therefore, the computer where you have this file server, must have a name. Let's call this computer "kozos-pc-w10".

Now, when you are in ARCHICAD, when you locate the file server, on Windows, use this: //kozos-pc-w10/exampledrawing.pdf, while on macOS, use this: \\kozos-pc-w10/anotherexampledrawing.pdf

In this case, ARCHICAD can always find the proper path to the file server, no matter which platform you are working on.

Kind regards,
