What is the best screen grab tool for creating images?

What is the best screen grab tool for creating images of the ArchiCAD screen that I can easily add to posts on this forum?

I am currently using Acrobat but I have to reduce the image size and pixel count in Photoshop before I can add the image to my posts on this forum.

Thank you,
John

Snagit without a doubt, IMHO.

I wouldn't and don't bother with anything else. It'll be the best $50 you've ever spent and you will find yourself using it for far more than just posting images to this forum, I betcha.

It's made by Techsmith, the same people who make the best screen recorder: Camtasia Studio.

Cheers,
Link.

Gadwin PrintScreen is another one.
There is a free version and a professional version if you want to edit and annotate the images.

Thanks Link and Srinivas and Barry,
Thanks for the tips. I just installed and tried Jing. It seems to work pretty easily.
I know Srinivas uses Jing and he can make a screen capture in the time it takes me to open Acrobat--pretty fast.

Yep - he's more than just a pretty face. Jing's pretty good too.

...and Mac OS comes with an app called Grab which is pretty good. But if you are willing to spend some money SnagIt rules! I've been using SnapzPro on the Mac for years but now that SnagIt for Mac is out of beta I'll be coughing up the scratch.

Being known as frugal, I use Cropper (I forget how to get text embedded in URL link here)
www.snapfiles.com/get/cropper.html

Usually Open in MS Paint for annotation (not the most elegant solution)

To add into the pot, there's Paint.net
Which is really great, quick and free.
Just hit your "PrintScrn" and paste in.
