external content into ArchiCAD Start project?

Hi, I'm using ArchiCAD Start 2009 on a mac. I'm trying to get a scanned hand-drawn sketch into a Layout. Using Epson Scan 2.95A.

Does anyone know of any way to get external content (either a jpeg or PDF) into a Layout? Or whether any of the formats that Photoshop can save out to can be opened in ArchiCAD? TIFF, PICT, BMP, PCX, TARGA.

any help would be appreciated

thanks

Place it as a drawing.

File>External Content> Place External Drawing.

You can place the scan or other drawings type into all but the 3D window in archicad or directly onto a sheet in the layout book.

Right, that's how it works in the regular ArchiCAD software.

That function is disabled in the Start version of ArchiCAD. When I go to File-External Content, the only option then is Drawing Manager. Within Drawing Manager, the external source option is greyed out.

So I'm wondering if there's any work around?

I didn't realize that this function was disabled in the start version. Can you merge it in? Or drag and drop it into the correct window or layout?

I just tried it and YES! It works. I merged a jpeg in and it came in as a figure that I could then resize. Thanks so much! I don't really use merge much so I hadn't thought of it. For some reason it couldn't merge in a PDF but it could a jpeg.

Drag and drop didn't work. I tried that earlier.

thanks again!

So this means that later you can also use the Figure Tool to place any of those bitmaps.

By the way, here is a list of what is in the Start edition compared to the full edition:

Thanks for the link Laszlo.
It looks like jzarmin could also copy and paste.
