importing archiCAD files into vectorworks

howdy

we have a project that was done exclusively in 2D

our client is now asking for vectorworks files

is that something we can provide... or do we need to export to dwg/ dxf

we are currently on archiCAD v11... but i have colleagues who are using v12 and v13 if they either of those versions are better for the task

any help greatly appreciated

What file format(s) does vectorworks accept?

It will have to be dwg I'm afraid
The more recent versions of VW do IFC but if your project was only 2D then dwg is the way

IFC will convert 2D information as well. but try the translators, round trip if that is what you will be doing.

Will they be working on the files in vectorworks?

apologies for the delay in responding

yeah.. they will be working on the files once we hand them over

this will not be round-trip... simply exporting out of archiCAD for their use in vectorworks

seems odd that as both products are owned by the same company.. that their is not a file format that can handle this outside of dwg/ dxf or ifc

thanks again one and all

I guess you are too lazy to ask your client which file formats it supports,
or do a search
