I still think archicad is far much better than Revit... but after seeing tools like Railclone for 3dsmax (astonishing parametric modeling tool) i think autodesk is willing to take revit to another dimension in terms of modeling with Dinamo, check this out!

Hmm, Can you see architect designing buildings with nodes? Maybe, but I prefer a more graphical/sketch input. That might be old fashioned, but I think design should be made easier not more complex. For some project this could work though.

You are right, i dont see architects working with nodes but neither with GDL.

Of course it would be focused more on execution phases of the project, hand sketches still rule in the beginning.

AFAIK, this is not really revolutionary, as Grasshopper was doing things like that long before Dynamo (not for revit though).

As Grasshopper is a plugin for rhino ,it is possible to link any shape in rhino to grasshopper (to create things like parametric panneling, parametricaly dividing a surface in regular or random manner.and far more than you think...and things that GDL could do in its esoteric language )

While testing Grasshopper , you really wonder how come Graphisoft didn't think about making a similar tool. ( Sure it's not totally graphical but it's a sort of an inbetween solution ).

I do really think that Graphisoft is not willing to waste its time and ressources on a such tool or would rely on a third party-add-on for that. ( even-though it is that tool that made Rhino even more popular, especially in architecture schools )

Anyway, Autodesk made the step(s) on that direction

I was pursuing the idea with a friend (programmer).
Our Idea was to create as sort of stand alone GDL graphic Scripter. We stopped it after a while, it wasn't as hard as I thought, but my partner hated the GDL syntax and we ended up being too busy to continue with this.
All we managed to achieve was to control GDL objects with a few sliders and connect some transformations with nodes, nothing fancy. In my dreams I would like to see an add on where you can connect actual model elements ( slabs, windows , walls, etc...) no only stand alone objects and manipulate them in 3d space via parameters on sliders; or generate curtain walls the same way.
I don't think is impossible, but as my friend put it "if we make this work, how many people would buy it?"...

I still wonder... would people buy it? and if so, for how much?

It's so far to the right side of our normal distribution curve it's not really interesting (however it would be fun to play with). We use Rhino for special occasions (as if they would happen....hmmm). Maybe different on different markets. 100% focus on our bread and butter stuff!

I have noticed that Revit is more linked with rhino and grasshopper with a few plugins, and has a new Dynamo tool for Revit which is great.

But i have recently started to use ArchiCAD and cannot compare the programmes too much at the moment, but I have noticed there is no links between rhino and grasshopper and there are no parametric tools for ArchiCAD ( parametric in a grasshopper or dynamo way). ArchiCAD does seem more user friendly to use with a far more extensive out of the box library.

After some time I will compare the two programmes and see which one I like the most, but the fact that revit has some better tools for parametrics gives it an edge (although I hate the workarounds you have to do in the programme from time to time...)

Or is there a way to model everything parametric in rhino, then attach the geometry to archiCAD and then assign what kind of geometry it is (beams, trusses etc.) and model the standard things in archiCAD with the parametric objects in place and go forth and back between them?

check Geometry Gym an add in developed by a South African company. With it you can export from Rhino/Grasshopper and get into ArchiCAD as native elements ( beams, columns, walls, slabs, etc...)
