AC 20 - Troubleshooting Graphic Overrides

Anonymous
Not applicable
Hi Folks!
I've been getting to know the Graphic Overrides feature in AC 20, and am having some troubles getting rules to stick.

For example: If I add criteria to a new rule - such as... tack on a layer to a wall in the criteria list, then press "Ok" to seemigly lock in the edit i made, it wont remember the layer addition i made in the criteria list when i go back in.

this happens with other criteria that i add on below element type, even when I try using the Element Type- is - All Types

Is there something i am missing on how to build the criteria list?

Let me know if i can be more clear.

Thanks in advance!

I have had similar things happen. I'm interested in Graphic Overrides and how they can be used to enhance construction documents, as well as presentations. I would love to see how others are using these features. Would anyone like to share their override combinations?

Thanks Sam.

Still curious about the issue i originally posted, but I'm happy to expand on your inquiry.

We as a company have been trying to get familiar with the new GO feature, and trying to envision scenarios where it might be useful. Same questions you posted... How will it improve documentation? or Is is intended more for in-house coordination? OR schematic design?

Some scenarios we came up with...
1) Schematic Design - Producing Solid Fill plans/sections that display all cut elements as All 100% Black for example. This used to be handled in Model View Options, but this ability has been moved to GO

2) DWG export - In general, we could simplify our drawings using GO for a more streamlined export to DWG to consultants. Essentially use GO as an extension of the DWG Translator.

3) Existing Conditions - Showing existing conditions (adjacent to "new construction") with a light gray background for visual/graphic clarity. Although this could always be done with the renovation setting overrides

Any other ideas? Really just brainstorming here, trying to figure out how GO will be useful. No doubt the possibilities are "endless" but realistically, how are folks using them?

Thanks!

There is a bug somewhere in the GO settings. I had the same issue you describe Borisov. I haven't played with it enough to work out why the settings wouldn't stick other than it may be the route you take to access the settings as I later went through the renovation filter on a new approach and the new settings stuck without issue.

Hi Borisov and DGsketcher, could you send me a little screen video as a private message of what is happening, how the criteria do not get remembered? That would be great, thanks, k

Katalin,

I have tried to recreate the problem which I think happened when accessing the GO settings through the bottom status bar but everything seems to be working as expected. I am fairly sure I was working on a legacy project migrated from v19 at the time but the problem was cleared the next time I worked on the drawing.

Maybe Borisov can reproduce the circumstances.

Katalin,
Thanks for reaching out.
Like DGS, I couldn't recreate the problem (which is frustrating). I tried everything. Maybe blame user error using a new feature? I will be carefully paying attention to the GO and Rules and see if it happens again.

I DO have a couple very small bugs on other feature working in v20 that i have encountered. What is the best way to point out these issues to GS?

Thanks again!

Borisov,

Just post them in the appropriate forum and they will find their way to GRAPHISOFT. I will report them if we can confirm they are bugs and if they may be bugs.

I too have been having trouble with the newly created or revised rules to stick. I am trying to include a screen video as was suggested by Katalin but this post will not allow that to happen. Any help with either issue would be appreciated.

Hi there,
Our development checked the issue and found that it is indeed caused by a bug. An entry has been added into our database (#215625). We are investigating the problem as we speak. Thanks for pointing our attention to it and special kudos to Kevin Motyka for sending me a screen recording!! best, k
