Connection walls with windows to roofs

Thinus
Contributor

Good day

I have windows with sills and external casings protruding walls and when I connect these walls to roofs, the sills and casings disappear. The sills and casings trim flush to the walls' faces after clicking on the roof. I know I can split the roofs to single planes and trim, but would like the walls to be connected for later adjustments.

Thank you in advance.

The 'Connection' method of walls to roofs uses the cutting body of the roof.

You decide whether you want to keep what is inside or outside of this cutting body.

I am assuming the wall is inside but the sills and casing is external to the cutting body.

You can turn the cutting body on/off in On Screen View Options.

Maybe try using Solid Element Operations instead of connect.

It is still a live connection so if you adjust the roof the wall will re-trim.

Hi Barry

Thank you for your explanation.  What you say about the cutting plane is correct. To me it seems logical that if the sills are outside of the cutting plane that they won't be affected by the connection, but I will use SEO instead. Thought there was something I'm doing wrong.

Appreciate the suggestion, thanks again.
