GRIDS AND BACKGROUND

I'm always updating our template we use to start every project. I changed the color of the background so we can see things that are in white (91) but we don't want them to be plotted with a pen weight. When someone opens up the template on their machine, they don't get the background color (They get the basic white bacground). Is there anyway I can make the background changes stay with the template?

Thanks in advance,
Michele

The file's background color is controlled by the saved ".PLN" and ".TPL" file (At least that's how it works for us).

What is your procedure for saving and using your template files?

As David said, that is kept with the file.

When creating templates, you should create a .tpl file, ONE for the office (or for the project, depends on the situation). Keep it LOCKED, at one place that is accessible to everyone, and be sure to inform all relevant that the template is there and that any file that does not originate from it will be deleted (sounds very harsh, but is extremely efective!).

Please explain your procedure so that we can troubleshoot it?

I did try it out on a different machine and it does work. We do make a template file (tpl). What happened is we had a meeting and opened the file and projected it on the wall so everyone can see it. For some reason the background color didn't show up and then someone else said they didn't get the background color. I'm thinking the projected image washed out the grey background color and it must have been a fluke for the other person (or they could have been working on an old file or something).

It might be the projector problem, too. Did it show properly on the screen, and was the file started on the right template?

Are you slapping the wrists of the "creative" people who do not use the office template?
