... or your top ten ArchiCAD wishes.

Mine is in the topic title, all encompassing.

The particulars?

- concept modeling tool
- stair tool
- parametric object creation tool with graphical interface (doors and windows included)
- sloped top walls
- double curve curtain wall that also punches a hole in a wall
- true curved roofs
- assembly tools (railings, false ceiling, panelling ... yes, I know Curtain Wall can be used for this)
- overhaul of the annotation tools, especially correct dimensioning text orientation
- full backwards compatibility/old file opening and/or conversion tools (long life projects, anyone?)
- OLE (don't care that MacOS does not have it, Windows does not have other things)

And now, you ...

I would agree with most of the above, but a very simple one would make the biggest difference - Change all commands to work on the down stroke of the mouse rather than the up. This to me is by far the most frustrating aspect of ArchiCAD, and causes the biggest slow down in operation, most other issues can be overcome with a creative approach to the program

its been said before but really it is so frustrating and remarkably odd the way you can't copy 3d stuff it the ele/section window. If it works in the 3d window then why not the 2d? it's one of the first things i check each release.

Also the annoying issue of goodies especially the .3ds import one - just build the thing in as standard! Another thing why do graphisoft force maxon to update their archicad exchange for c4d every release meaning there is always at least a couple of months each year when we can't use the new releases! It works the same way and its very simple but nether the less it needs a new version each year!

end of mini rant!

not that it will do us any good i think the developers have their own agenda

Dear Talkers,

The very reason I have started this topic is to provide 10 BULLET POINTS for everybody. THAT can be sorted and evaluated.

Rants, links, text explanations can not.

So, please ... there are more than enough rant and elaboration topics around. Think about, ten bulleted points. Never mind if they are already mentioned. "All of the above" does not work, because "above" also includes some rant.

Can we please TRY to organize our thoughts and be precise and to the point?

Thanks,
Djordje

Ok
1. extend 3d shapes in order to generate more forms
2. a graphical modeler, not necessarily complex but robust
3. a classical Boolean tool, that shows modification in plan, that allows very basic things like trimming a polyline, a fill or a slab or a mesh along a broken line or a curve, that allow to directly join adjacent elements (2 fills, 2 slabs, etc)
4. a decent stair tool, for technical drawings, not just for partial visualization.
5. more 2 d tools for detailing, including "blocks" and "2d composites"
6. Interface: extend the navigator / organizer to fully homogenize the anarchic panel of palettes and attributes into a single system, like C4d, add a material map, a layer map, a fill map, etc.
7. extend the search tool to find and select internal object's parameter, especially materials
8. a complete new concept of the door / window tool. Forget theses dozen of little menus and dozen of pre -established types. Think the way we choose a type, we implement things in practice. Vast subject.
9. a profile library (yes cad image)
10. a robust site tool (mesh is ok but primitive, archisite is an add-on ok for visualization but not usable for technical drawings)

Lemme see:

- Quantity take-offs. ArchiQuant on steroids.
- Terrain modeling. ArchiTerra on steroids.
- Free 3D viewer. Zermatt on steroids.
- Door and Window builder. Interface like new curtain wall.
- Stair builder. Interface like new curtain wall.
- SEO management. Graphical who does what to whom.

Just 6.

I suppose in some ways this can be accomplished with Complex Profiles, but being able to apply to the edge of a slab or roof would be fantastic.

Develop Stair tool that I drive not G.S.
(Especially REAL winder control).
Let me at least deactivate the "this stair ok"

Fully activate LightWorks capabilities you (we) already own.
(or at the very least give us real-time sliders).

DEVELOP US BASED LIBRARIES OR LOOSE us SOMEDAY!!!
Like top of the line modern U.S. Kit. stuff;

Although I do only mid size residential remodels/additions,
most are high end clients, (the only ones who have money right now).
I can't model top of the line kitchens for them with AC and that's sometimes embarrassing, at the very least.

U.S. based thresholds would be nice;

"Googlize" the inept search function in AC.

And last but not least; larger paper manuals with more complete examples, about twice the current book size would be great!
