Massive surge in fuel costs?

Anonymous
Not applicable
I've been modeling different options for reducing energy in a simple building in archicad such as shading devices, orientation, etc. I can see the energy costs lowering each time I make a change to the building that is positive. When I changed the wall construction to have large amounts of insulation the energy loads dropped, which is great, but my fuel costs increased by around $3000. This makes no sense. Can someone tell me why Archicad has decided that when the energy loads go way down the fuel costs must jump sky high and how to fix it? Cause there is no way this is how much it would cost.

Different "fuels" have different costs.
Electricity costs much more than natural gas.
In your second case all energy is derived from Electricity, which reduces the carbon emission dramatically, but costs much more, this is why your "fuel" cost goes up.
