Hello ,

I'm a high school student who's been usin Archicad for about 6 months , l never really took any official courses or anything like that , just figured my way around by watchin Youtube tutorials .

I have a lotta questions that I'm hopin I could find answers to in this forum .

1- I can build a simple house in Archicad but what I would like to know is where to find walls textures ( tired to find some on google but they werent that good ) like the ones in the 1st photo I've attached .

2 - I would like to know where to find good PLANTS & TREES

4 - Are the walls textures , plants , trees , windows etc... added before or during rendering ?

5 - excuse my bad English .

Thank you

Hi

Creating materials from textures in ArchiCAD is relatively simple - open the material palette from Options>Element Attributes>Materials. This dialogue is used to create new materials or change existing ones.
Textures are available all over the internet, I found www.cgtextures.com to be quite useful.

The image you posted probaly isn't rendered in ArchiCAD though - Archicads rendering engine (lightworks) is a dinosaur now and should only be used to create dark and moody goth imagery

you may want to try Artlantis - it's available as a free download which gives you a 30-day trial. After that you have to purchase it, but you can download versions 2, 3 and 4 and still get a 30 day trial on each version.

Plants and trees can be tricky in archicad 0- realistic objects tend to be very high in polygons, so they slow down your model a lot. I always place trees, plans, people and cars in Artlantis.

but if you're wanting to stick to archicad, try these sites for a range of downloadable objects -

http://archicad-talk.graphisoft.com/object_depository.php?
http://bimobject.com/Product
http://archicadwiki.com/LinkCollection/GDLObjectDownloads

a lot of objects are available for free, so browse extensively before buying anything.

hope that gives you a starting point from which to work...
cheers

oh and in case I wasn't clear there - Artlantis is a rendering software. open the 3D model in archicad and File>Save As> Artlantis studio file - depending on which version of artlantis you're using, save to that version.

NB: Archicad 16 can only export to Artlantis 4 for the time being.

Also, with the textures - download them and then add them to your archicad file to create a new material. Materials are also available and creatable in Artlantis and some tend to be better much than archicad materials - for example the water material and glazing fresnel material are awesome...
