Reference Planes

What does ArchiCAD use for reference planes to place objects?

When placing objects I find project zero and some other reference levels, but I can't add additional reference levels here.

In my story, I want several reference levels, like what level to place objects on, which is the floor level and what level doors end at. Also, some levels to place light switches and such.

What terminology does ArchiCAD use here?

ARCHICAD only uses the main story levels. You cannot insert reference planes like you can in Revit.

I don't understand this logic. How can you create a CAD without reference planes? This seems like total retardedness;) How can you place all the stuff in the house without some kind of reference plane? There must be some kind of workaround?

How can you do any engineering without reference planes?

You place the objects to the Story Levels.
Door Headers at 7'-0" from Story 02
Window Sill at 2'-6" of Story X
Light Switches at 5'-0" from story 03 or at 50'-3" above Story-Light Switch
and so it goes.
-----
If you want you can create reference stories and then do everything to 0'-0" to that story but that is kind of more work than necessary
