Surface override greyed out

I often copy and paste composite walls between projects. I have pasted a wall into a current project based on an earlier template. However even though I could access surface override in the original I have realized that pretty much project wide the graphic override options are pretty much disabled. I have not set up any overrides in the renovation options and am quite a loss as to why this particular project is reacting this way. Is there some setting that turned on that I am unaware of?

Firstly your profile signature shows Archicad 18 - is that still the case?

Do you mean these wall surface overrides that are greyed out?

If not can you post a screen shot of what you mean?

yup still with V18. Got distracted and am coming home.

Barry that works only partially as the selected composite wall only changes the edges. Basic walls work fine of course.

I am not sure what is wrong here.
Complex profile walls can only have the edge surfaces changed - but the inside and outside will be greyed out (clearly not the case in your screen shot).
Basic and composite walls can have any surface changed.
So I am not sure why they are not changing for you.
