Wall display above cut plan

OBERMEYER
Booster
Scenario: Large dormer window in a pitched roof.
Issue: Dormer walls above 4'-0" cut plane display as solid wall in plan view.
Question: How can the wall display be changed to dashed lines where the wall occurs above the cut plane? Also note, the wall is trimmed to the roof.

Set the 'Floor Plan Display' for the wall to 'Projected with overhead' (for an automatic display depending on the relationship to the cutting plane) or you can force it to become 'Overhead' (regardless of the position to the cutting plane).
Then be sure to set the pen colour and line type for the overhead lines.

Thank you. That seems to be okay. It's a old existing house with a large charming (odd) dormer.

Looks good.
Just be a little careful in that the length of the wall on plan may not be the same as the length of the wall in 3D (elevation).
That is because the Solid Element Operation (trim to roof) cuts the wall off to the roof in 3D but does not affect the plan view.
Select the wall in 3D and stretch the end that disappears into the roof back to where it just passes into the roof and the floor plan will show that length.
Otherwise hide the wall in plan and drawer a couple of lines (I don't like drawing 2D lines unless I really have to).

The old 'Crop to single roof plane' command will adjust the wall length as it performs a permanent trim that is no longer live (connected) to the roof.
You will have to un-crop and crop the wall again if the wall or roof change.
