Why are CURVES in my Custom Profile broken as line segments?

I've created curved outlines in the Profile Manager, but the curves become line segments when the object is placed into the Plan View. (before/after image attached)

Changing the Options>Magic Wand settings does nothing. And changing the zoomed scale settings has no effect either.

Please -- does anyone know how to control this setting?

I just checked in AC 10 and AC 12 and in both
the complex profile "P Steel Section" which is
a pipe column is made of straight segments
with a resolution of 20. The resolution is the
same in 3D. I checked the the fill in the
complex profile editing window and the
fill was not faceted but showed as a true arc.
The resolution is always the same regardless
of the diameter of the pipe column. I can only
assume that this is just the way it is and the
resolution can not be changed or the shape
be made to show as a true arc even if only in 2D.

I think this is because in the 3D Model curves are always segmented, which is just a feature (or lack of) the 3D Engine, and when a 2D is generated from the 3D Model, that will also be segmented.

For users who's work involves a lot of curvilinear features (as ours does) this is one of the greatest fundamental issues with ArchiCAD: it can't model a curve --everything is broken into segments. This is particularly worrisome because one assumes that the code surrounding this limitation is buried so deep in the Precambrian strata of the software that we will all be using Sketchup or something before it's fixed.
