modeling wall studs and plates

what is the best way to model studs, plates, headers, trimmers, king studs, joists etc in archicad? ideally to create a schedule/take-off quantity for placing orders....

Thanks very much Steve. I followed your instructions and it worked!
You are welcome. Very nice. For the sake of interactive schedules I add a .001" this skin in my Composites for vapor barrier and such. This is not for the sake of the schedules but for the sake of proper labeling in my Wall Legends. I frequently use a Wall Legend with each wall of the project that has each material in the wall label and a Wall Tag. Wall tags allow for all walls to display as simple 2 line walls. The wall tag links it to the all legend. As some scales, this is makes a much easier to read set of plans. This works for me because I never dimension to anything except the core of the walls/face of stud... never to finish dimensions unless a clearance dim is needed.

Hi Steve, I use a similar wall types system to that pictured above.

How do you turn off the thickness for the membrane n your skin list? If I make a membrane smaller than 1mm it just rounds to 0mm and shows it in the list.

Thanks!

If I understand your question correctly, I do not usually display material thicknesses using a label attached to the wall segments of my Wall Legend. Instead, I may include the thickness/size in the name of the building material. For example 5/8" Gypsum, 1/2" Gypsum, 7/16" OSB, 23/32" Plywood, 2X6 Studs @ 16" O.C. etc.... and I may add something like Tyvek to a material name I use for wall sheathing just so it displays in the Label where I want it since I never want to display the thickness of it my Wall Legend.
