it means you haven't been reading Asterix!

seriously it usually is an error with the 3d display of an object that has become corrupted.

Binary search: model half of the building, if the error occurs model half of that, otherwise take half of the other. Since you are narrowing down by powers of 2 it zeros in very fast.

....well, I tried the Lohan Method of finding the offending object.
when I model 1/2 the building, the error doesn't show, when I model the other half and "show 3d in selected marquee"..the error does show but....then I model the two halves where the error "SHOULD" occur and the error NOW does not show up anymore??...so I'm perplexed.

You can use the same principle with layers - half on, half off, keep reducing till you find the culprit.
