spot elevations on 10' grid to contours?

Just wondering if anyone knows of a method to change spot elevations on a 10'-0" grid into contour lines using the mesh tool.
I'm thinking that if the mesh tool can produce a curvilinear smooth surface from the input points I could slice horizontal sections through it at 1'-0" intervals and create the contour lines. Not sure if this would work or not. Does anyone know a procedure to accomplish this? If not, I'll start doing it the old fasioned way by interpolating each side of each square in the morning.
That will be about 10 hours from now:-)

Thanks, Jon

Jonathan,
One method is as per attached link:
http://helpcenter.graphisoft.com/tips/extracting-contours-from-mesh/

There is also a library part 'contour maker' in the repository from Roberto Corona
